Barrow bags and net bags of hardwood logs and kindling are available to be collected in person, by arrangement.

Seasoned logs refers to wood that has been allowed to dry naturally over a period of roughly twelve months so that after splitting the moisture content is below 20%. Chaldean Estate achieves this by storing the whole trees after felling and then split the timber into logs allowing for further seasoning. 

If you store your logs in a covered, dry and ventilated space you can’t go wrong. If you are storing them in a coal shed remember to put them on a pallet so they don’t get damp underneath. The drier you can keep them the better they will burn.

Delivery is free within a 10-mile radius of our base on Bromley Lane, Much Hadham, SG10 6HU. If you are interested in ordering from C-Logs but are outside our free delivery area please call 01279 843045 to enquire about delivery costs.

For domestic customers all our prices include VAT at 5%. Price changes may happen at any time. Once an order is placed the price is fixed at the ordered price. VAT for Business customer is 20%

Yes, we will take bags back. Unfortunately, due to construction, they are generally single-use bags.  You are welcome to keep the bag – they can be very useful in the garden or for taking rubbish to the recycling centre.

We require all goods to be signed for upon delivery unless a prior agreement has been given. Please let us know at check-out if you are happy for your delivery to be left if you are not home. We take no responsibility for loss or damage of goods after delivery.

Movement of bulk bags can be done if on a hard surface as we use a crane to move around. They cannot be moved on gravel, grass or soft ground.

Wood is either from Chaldean Estate or locally sourced hardwood, usually oak, ash and hornbeam. Other hardwoods may be used but not conifer which is a softwood.

Although we try to ensure a uniform product, this is a natural product so supply is variable. Our processor is set to cut to 25cm length and depending on the size of the log to start with they can be split into 2/4/6/8 pieces. The nature of splitting wood to create logs means that small pieces are produced. Our team aim to keep this to a minimum. Small pieces will never be used to replace logs. Remember timber is a natural and variable product. 

Sustainability is a key aspect to how Chaldean Estate operates. Our logs are produced from wood that has been sourced in an ecologically sympathetic way. Most of the logs are sourced from our own woodland on the Chaldean Estate . The Estate produces timber by coppicing to maintain woodland for the future. However due to increasing demand we are sourcing from other local woods, keeping to our high standards. All woodland in the UK is managed in agreement with Forestry England.  Chaldean Estate has been establishing new areas of woodland on the Estate for future generations. 

Because real wood fuels can contain water (which evaporates reducing the weight of the product over time) log suppliers are not permitted by UK law to sell wood based on weight. Instead, logs and firewood are sold by volume. All packaging volumes used by C-Logs are based on a loose volume equivalent measure.
